Summer FAQ

Q: “I want to do the school, but I can’t come the first week or I have a event that I need to leave for a week in the middle to go and do. Can I get off that time?”

A: Because of the intense nature of the school we unfortunately do not accept any late arrivals to the Summer Program. If it doesn’t work out for you this summer, email us at info@catalystschool.com for other training opportunities throughout the year. Because university students are a large part of our training focus we make allowances for students getting back to school on time. However, for all other purposes we desire students to be fully engaged for the duration of the school. Often we are asked if a student can go for a week to join a family for a family vacation or another special trip. Where as we recognize the value in these ventures, we also know that there is a blessing to be reaped for students through the sacrifice that has to be made to devote a summer to growing with the Lord and being involved in missions.

Q: “What are the exact days of outreach?”

A: Because of the complicated variables in summer international airline travel, we don’t get the exact dates until closer to when the school starts. Our target range is Aug 1st-31, however it can always be a day or two before or after so as to help us procure the best tickets for group travel.

Q: “Can I get a part time job while I’m in Tacoma this summer while I’m doing the Catalyst School?”

A: We would highly discourage students to have other commitments during the summer because the school consumes most of your time.  Days will be spent 8:30 to 3:30 in teaching, worship, training, and outreach times.  Evening will consist of meetings with our larger church body and school events, such as family dinners.  Most students use any free time to rest, hang out with friends, or visit local places in the Pacific Northwest.

Q: “What does a typical day look like during the local phase in Tacoma?”

A: Every day is crafted for a unique combination of teaching and application, and thus every day looks different. However, this is an example of a day from one of our previous summer programs:
